High-pressure washers use water jets with a high-pressure water pressure that is greater than the adhesion between the dirt and the surface of an object. The high pressure removes and washes away the dirt, effectively cleaning the surface. Because it uses a high-pressure water jet to clean dirt, only very stubborn oil stains require the addition of detergent; otherwise, the foam generated by the strong water pressure is sufficient to remove most dirt.
Daily Maintenance - After Each Use
1. Rinse the hose and filter connected to the detergent to remove any detergent residue to help prevent corrosion.
2. Turn off the water supply to the high-pressure washer.
3. Pull the trigger on the servo spray gun lever to release all pressure in the hose.
4. Disconnect the rubber hose and high-pressure hose from the high-pressure washer.
5. Disconnect the spark plug wires to ensure the engine does not start (for engine-powered models).
Electric Model: Turn the power switch to the "on" and "off" positions four to five times, for 1-3 seconds each time, to purge water from the pump. This step will help protect the pump from damage.
Engine-Mounted Type: Slowly pull the engine starter rope 5 times to purge water from the pump. This step will help protect the pump from damage.
Regular Maintenance – Every 2 Months
1. Regularly removing fuel deposits from the reservoir will extend engine life and performance. Fuel deposits can damage fuel lines, fuel filters, and carburetors.
2. When not using the pressure washer, protect it with a Kärcher pump protection kit (9.558-998.0). The pump protection kit is specifically designed to protect the pressure washer from corrosion, premature wear, and freezing. Also, apply lubricant to valves and seals to prevent them from sticking.

Electric Type:
1. Turn off the pressure washer.
2. Disconnect the high-pressure hose and servo spray gun from the pump.
3. Connect the valve to the pump protection tank and open the valve.
4. Start the pressure washer; draw all material from the tank into the pump.
5. Turn off the washer; the high-pressure washer can be stored directly.
Engine-powered type:
1. Turn off the high-pressure washer.
2. Disconnect the high-pressure hose and servo spray gun bar from the pump.
3. Connect the valve to the pump's protective tank and open the valve.
4. Ignite the pump and pull the starter cord; draw all material from the tank into the pump.
5. The high-pressure washer can be stored directly.
